אנו מקבלים החלטות כמעט בכל רגע מחיינו, מרגע שאנו קמים עד הרגע בו אנו הולכים לישון. החלטות חשובות ומשמעותיות והחלטות בהיסח הדעות, החלטות הקשורות להתנהלות חיינו בכל הרבדים האישיים, המשפחתיים והעסקיים. תיאוריות רבות נכתבו על קבלת החלטות. החל מתיאוריות מתמטיות- לוגיות וכלה בתיאוריות סוציו-פסיכולוגיות, ולכולן התייחסות מרשימה למידע הנמצא ברשות המחליט על הבעיה. תורת ההחלטות הבייסיאנית מדברת על ההסתברות למצב מסוים ותועלתו וקבלת החלטה על פי מכסימום התועלת הריאלית והאובייקטיבית שתצמח לנו, תורת המשחקים מדברת על הידע כיצד שאר המעורבים בסיטואציה יתנהגו ולפיכך נחליט. פילוסופים התעסקו במשמעות הידע שלנו ועד כמה הוא רלוונטי לתוצאות כמו אפלטון בכתביו או דקארט בשאלה הרדיקאלית הקיומית שלו, שבסופה קבע “אני חושב משמע אני קיים”. קרישנמואטי קבע כי האפשרות היחידה שלנה לחיים בריאים ולהחלטות נבונות היא השתחררות מהידע כלל כפי שמתאר בספרו “החופש מהידוע”. רוב תושבי העולם כשיעמדו מול החלטה חשובה וקריטית בעבור חייהם ינסו לדלות כמה שיותר מידע על הבעיה בכדי לקבל החלטה הגיונית, שקולה ומקיפה על מנת להגיע לדרך הפעולה הטובה ביותר, פשוט מאוד כי זו הדרך בה חונכנו, לקבל החלטות על פי מידע שלם ככל האפשר וש “החיפזון מהשטן”, כך ידע כל ילד לצטט.

אך זהו שלא, מלקולם גלדוול בספרו “BLINK” (“ממבט ראשון”, תרגום מאנגלית יהב זוהר, הוצאת כתר, 2005), מנסה להראות לנו ולהוכיח כי אנחנו בעצם מקבלים או מסוגלים לקבל החלטות טובות ומלאות בשברירי שנייה גם בלי לדעת הכול, מלקולם קורא לשיטה הזו “פריסה דקה”. פריסה דקה היא טכניקה שבעצם כולנו משתמשים בה כבר היום להחליט מגוון רחב של החלטות באופן אוטומטי, היא בעצם הדרך בה תת המודע שלנו אוסף את כל המידע שסביב לנו ומנחה אותנו להחלטה או לפעולה בלי שאפילו נדע שאנו מחליטים ופועלים. מלקולם נותן בספר דוגמאות רבות לפריסה רבה של אנשים ומומחים בחיי היום-יום שלהם ולאפקטיביות שלה. כמו מומחי היסטוריה ועתיקות המצליחים לזהות פסל מזויף בכמה שניות של הסתכלות למרות מחקר בן 14 חודשים המוצא כי הפסל מקורי ולבסוף צודקים, מומחים המצליחים להבין ולחזות את הצלחת חיי הנישואין של זוגות על פי צילום שיחה בן 5 ד’, או החלטה ויצירת מחזה שלם חדש של קבוצת שחקנים תוך כדי ההופעה עצמה. מלקולם קובע כי:

• החלטות מהירות טובות כמו החלטות לאחר חשיבה מעמיקה
• ניתן לשלוט ולפתח את שיפוטי הבזק והרשמים הראשונים

עוד הוא קובע כי אסוציאציות, רשמים ראשוניים על אנשים וסיטואציות, מצבי לחץ לא מוכרים ותיאור מילולי או בכתב של תהליך החשיבה המוביל להחלטה (כמו סקרי שיווק רבים, ראה מקרה קוקה קולה-פפסי במבחן הטעימות של פפסי) פוגם משמעותית באיכות ונכונות ההחלטה המתקבלת. אנו ממציאים סיפורים, הסברים ומדדים שנשמעים הגיוניים לקבלת החלטה או העדפה ולבסוף מוצאים עצמנו משנים את העדפה שלנו על מנת שתתאים להסברים.

על מנת שנוכל להשתמש בצורה טובה ונכונה בשיטת הפריסה הדקה אנו צריכים לאמן עצמנו ולהפוך למומחים במודעות שלנו ובתהליך החשיבה שלנו, הטיות של מחשבות ודעות קדומות יכולות להיפתר על ידי אימון או הבנה של ההטיה הראשונית כך שמשתלטים על שתי השניות הראשונות של הדעות הקדומות, כך לפי מלקולם.

מלקולם עושה דרך טובה בלהסביר שיכולה להיות דרך נוספת או כלי נוסף לקבלת החלטות בחיינו האישיים, המשפחתיים והעסקיים, הוא מביא סיפורים רבים ומשכנעים לכך, אך לדעתי אינו מתייחס מספיק לדרך בה אנו יכולים לאמן עצמנו להפוך למומחים ‘בשתי השניות הראשונות של ההחלטה’ מושג די לא מוגדר וברור כיוון שמתייחס לתהליכים פנימיים של כל אחד מאיתנו ואינם מובחנים שם ובכלל בצורה ברורה. כמו כן הספר חסר במנגנון קריטי לאבחנה, למרות שמזכיר כי יש צורך לעיתים לבצע אבחנה שכזו, מתי כדאי להשתמש בשיטה האינטואיטיבית לעומת השיטה האנליטית בקבלת ההחלטות. בכך הספר נותר עם רעיון בעל פוטנציאל לגדולה אך כמו ספרים אחרים בתחומו המנסים לעזור לנו בחיינו, כאשר המפורסם ביותר לדעתי בעת האחרונה “הסוד”, הם חסרים דרך קונקרטית וקוהרנטית למימוש הרעיון ולכן נשארים באזור הספרות של “עזרה עצמית” או משהו דומה לכך ולא עוברים לספרות העיונית. לפיכך המלצתי לקריאת הספר היא בינונית, מי שיתקל לראשונה ברעיונות מסוג זה ימצא אותו פורץ דרך ומעורר חשיבה, אך לאחר זמן מה ימצא עצמו חסר בבסיס ממשי על מנת להשתמש בצורה מודעת בשיטה זו בחיי היום יום. אם כי המשפט החשוב ביותר לדעתי הכתוב בספר הוא (בתרגום חופשי) “איכות החוויות והקלטים של חיינו משפיעים באופן מוחלט על איכות תוצאות החשיבה שלנו”.

אני כשלעצמי מאמין שמלקולם התחיל להתקרב לאזור הקרוב להשקפותיי בתהליכים הפנימיים של קבלת ההחלטות בחיי היום יום, אך לא ארחיב עליהם היום, מספיק התפלספנו ליום אחד אשמח לדיונים בהקשר הזה, למעוניינים פנו אלי למייל adam.ku@gmail.com

Although GPS as itself is a great product, and facilitate the essential service of pinpoint our position in the world, the roads around us are filled with much more data than just our position in the road we are traveling at. Data like possible routes, traffic jams, accidents, speed radar or any other hazards may occur during our peaceful driving. For that a technology was invented called A-GPS or Assisted GPS, and even Apple embedded it in their latest 3G iPhone devices, it works quite good, besides the fact that you pay more money to your cell carrier for the extra GPRS communication, of course if you’re using a wireless communication it’s free. Aside that it’s a OK service. But, do the phone companies or any other company could know about all the real time data of the roads better or as fast as the driver that has just past the road hazard? I don’t think so…

In fact a small company from Israel thought as I did. The company is called Waze (www.waze.com) and they embraced the AGPS concept with the concept of web 2.0. They have built an open source (for us the enthused about that) framework of web 2.0 communication between the drivers while traveling the roads. The drivers are able to update passively or actively (depends on the update), again by AGPS, the company’s servers about any hazard, traffic or police unit on the road he/she passes, and receive other drivers updates free of charge. Moreover the servers gather information about the road conditions and availability, so in fact it contains a real-time true dynamical changing image of the roads, so, the road you see is actually there without receiving (and paying) for annual update of the maps. Now that’s a great idea, I love not paying money for something good . I was particularly interested in their knowledge management, after all they have almost 100,000 signed users that frequently sending data via either GPRS or wireless, they must use immense computing power, or at least I thought. After some reading at their forum and some guessing on my part, I would imagine that the communication packets must have a rigid structure of information enable them to quite simply embed the new data in their DB, that method enables them to give fast response to changes and updates of the road conditions to the drivers. Again, that’s what I would do and have no idea of how they do that, I don’t imagine they would share their secrets…

Anyhow they have recently launched alpha version in the US, a version that was well tested for fully functionality in Israel.

It seems like thumbs up application, one that everyone would use, even after the corporate will copy the wonderful idea.

first of all, 1.5L it’s too big for everyday usage, even if you carry a day backpack with you to everywhere you g, like I do. The second thing is that the odor and taste of the aluminum is quite noticeable, maybe it’s because it’s an old bottle, about 6-7 year, but even though it shouldn’t function like that. But the most aggravating thing with my bottle is the smell! For some obscure reason there is a hideous smell going out of it, and although I’ve tried many kinds of treatments, noting worked!

So despite my high expectations out of it, it will stay unused until I’ll finally throw it away in disgrace… too bad…

Those are just two of many stories and articles published about Twitter, changing ppls way of thinking on living on the web. Of course I had to pick up the challenge and try it for myself. So folks, I’m here to let you know, what I think of it…

I’ve been using Twitter for about 2 months now and have “staggering” amount of 40 messages, so I wouldn’t call me a heavy user, me, the one who adores new technologies and adopt them faster than the wind blows.. What happened with Twitter?! Why wasn’t I caught with the obvious (or blown out of proportion…) madness?

In one hand it’s nice to know what do your friends do and think during the day, but if you are like me and have normal amount of friends, you usually knows that without Twitter.. And even it’s nice to keep it touch with the second and third circle of friends, a shot message here and there seems dull comparing to the possibilities for communications you have at web services like facebook.com for instance. Moreover due to the amount of users messaging at the same time on so many different and unconnected topics, the discussion or conversation if you may stays on a very shallow ground without any real progress and evolvement, don’t get me in the wrong way, I don’t think any conversation should be meaningful, but here it goes to boredom, leaving you without any real desire to keep on messaging. You may argue that maybe, me and my friends, as a group, haven’t encourage the use and implementation of Twitter in our life, maybe, but we are the common ppls this service is aimed for, and if we haven’t done that, something obviously isn’t working, despite the enormous buzz.

But, Twitter isn’t all bad, it enables you fast messaging with all of your friends, and that’s not a bad thing if you can harness it and direct your conversation to your\the group benefit. So, what do I suggests? If we would consider Twitter as the next evolution of the well known directed forum, we could have a very powerful tool of fast communication among friends, interest members and colleagues with actual benefit to our life or across the firm and the enterprise.

So twitter has the potential of becoming a powerful tool for both domestic and enterprise use, otherwise I think, after all the buzz would fade away, we would be left with yet another service that almost no one would spare our already precious time to update without actual (personal or other) benefit…

that’s it! i got rid of my plastic drinking bottle! no more BPA and other health hazards for me, plus less pollution… go go green world (how remembers the wonderful animated series Captain Planet? )..

any how, i got back to my forgotten 7 years old 1.5 l Laken free BPA bottle, had to clean it a bit, 7 years closed in a closet do something to the smell inside..hh

i purchased it during my treks to the Himalayas, and for that it was brilliant! but now 1.5l is a bit too big for me, so i’ll walk around with it for a awhile and if i’ll like it again i’ll keep it or buy new one from ebay, it seems that the other free BPA bottles that can be bought in Lametayel or other hikers shops aren’t well designed as i would expect them to be…

my wife doesn’t really like this kind of bottle because the aluminum sound gives her the shivers, so i would imagine a plastic one would suit better for her.. maybe the “KOR ONE Hydration Vessel” would be good for her…

on my part, every time i drink it i remember my long treks in the Himalayas, more health and less pollution… 

i encourage every1 to be more health and environmental conscious, after all our healthy body must live on this planet ( at least for the near future since, space travel could be cool J)
